LOVE LOST! by Sally Huss

"A day without love is a day lost."

(Happy Musings is a newspaper feature syndicated by King Features that I create each day to remind us all that “Life is wonderful!”  I offer it here to brighten your day.  Please share it with your friends.)

As we move more into the practical side of life – filling a gas tank, paying our mortgage, outfitting the kids for school, etc. – it is easy to leave love behind.  Yet, when we think about it, it is really love that we seek.  Love and happiness go hand in hand, so whether it is love we seek or happiness, it is really the same.  But it is that feeling of euphoria that sometimes goes missing.  Now, the key, it seems to me, is to keep love pumping in our hearts as we attend to our everyday activitiesl.

A meal tastes better when the element of love (prana or chi) has been added.  The line at Costco is more pleasant with a smile on our face or at least one inside.  A day at work or looking for work is far more enjoyable when the idea that love surrounds each of us is held.

Don’t leave love out of your day.  It is there for taking – inside and outside.  A day without love is a day or even a moment lost.  Love is a habit that must not be forgotten.

Smiles,

Sally

DON’T MISS A GREAT DAY by Sally Huss

"Great days fill a calendar, each one taking you closer to realizing the greatness of which you are a part."

(Happy Musings is a newspaper feature syndicated by King Features that I create each day to remind us all that “Life is wonderful!”  I offer it here to brighten your day.  Please share it with your friends.)

This is a thought worth contemplating.  I wrote it over two years ago, but as I look at it now it has greater meaning.

If we start with the idea that we are a part of something very great indeed and we are only learning about this greatness and our participation in it day by day, life becomes more significant.  It seems fuller, richer and more purposeful.  With this point of view our little lives with their petty irritations seem to pale.  We become aware that we are living for something greater than these small activities that become our preoccupations.  We are living for something greater than ourselves whether we know it or not.  That’s the point of making sure we know that each day is great, not just in our personal realm, but in the big picture.  It might help us make better choices and treat each other with greater care.  I hope so.

Smiles,

Sally

Got Neighbors? by Sally Huss

"Neighbors are nice, but even nicer are neighbors who are friends."

Neighbors?  Where are they?  Everywhere, but in many cases not a friend in sight!  That’s the best – to have neighbors who are friends.

People under 50 may not remember what it was like in the “old days” when neighbors were not just people you knew, but were also friends.  Today with so much movement and personal disconnection it is rare to have neighbors you know and still rarer to have neighbors you could call friends.

I don’t know how typical I am, but since I have been married (32 years) I have moved 28 times!  And presently I’m in a rental for a year and have my eyes open to where I’ll go next.  One of my employees, who is 28 years old, has lived in the same small cottage for five years.  She knows everyone in her complex and they are all friends.

On the street where I live now, I know my neighbors on both sides well enough to wave to in passing.  But then several doors down the way is a lovely couple who are friends.  Not close, but friends.  Mary and John won my heart when they left a little container of pistachio nuts on my doorstep.  We chat now and she visits my gallery on her walks with Scrumptious, her golden retriever.

That was the way of people in North Carolina when we lived there for a few years.  People welcomed a newcomer with a little gift of fruit or flowers.  Of course in North Carolina there was little movement.  People stayed put and also people had time to spend getting to know one another.  It was lovely.  I’m glad I had time there when our son was very young.  The pace there nurtured neighborliness and everyone was assumed to be a friend.

Smiles,

Sally

WHAT SURROUNDS YOU? by Sally Huss

"Best wishes are sent to you daily by the love that surrounds you completely."

(Happy Musings is a newspaper feature syndicated by King Features that I create each day to remind us all that “Life is wonderful!” I offer it here to brighten your day. Please share it with your friends.)

This thought brings a smile to my heart whenever I read it. It’s a true thing, but few are aware of it. I like to stick this thought on my computer, put one on my mirror, throw one in my purse and put one in my car where I might happen upon it. You never know when you need a reminder like this.

Wishes, best wishes, good wishes, are like support, invisible support. It’s good to send them and it’s good to receive them. I like to think that they enfold me continuously. I have a wonderful piece of gift art in my line of framed pieces of art with verse. It reads: “Around me I wear a coat of many colors, fabrics and textures. It is made of friends and family here and no longer here, far and not so far. They are all part of my coat that keeps me warm wherever I go.”

These “best wishes” are a part of that coat. They keep me warm when life sometimes seems cold. They surround you too.

Smiles,

Sally

Epidemic of Happiness - Bulletin by Sally Huss

Epidemic of Happiness - Bulletin

Help!     Help!     Help!

Allchildren1

People need help at this time - help with mortgages, help at the gas pump, help with family matters and help with life in general.  But above and beyond it all, they need help to keep their spirits up and their actions positiveThey also need hope.

That's what we intend to do here at sallyhuss.com.  Through our newsletter Happy News, our blog and videos we are in the process of creating an Epidemic of Happiness .  We are doing this by collecting as many like-minded people as possible who are committed to happiness, regardless of circumstances.  These are people who know the importance of being happy and who will continue to share their good feelings with those around them in their daily lives.  These are happy people who want to get happier and those who aren't, but would like to be.

Starting now we are launching a major effort to spread this good feeling worldwide - one person at a time and your help is needed.

In the current chaotic world we live, our state of well-being is constantly challenged.  So it is even more important now than ever to remain positive, optimistic and supportive of each other. By lifting spirits the weight of circumstances is also lifted.  It is our belief that "all people with love and happiness in their hearts secretly hold hands with each other to help uplift the world."  We wish to make this no longer secretive.

We now have over 1,000 happy volunteers.  It is our wish to grow it quickly to 100,000 and beyond.  We can all help by connecting friends to this campaign.  If each of us invites 10 friends to sign up for the Happy News and in turn if those 10 friends invite 10 more we will reach 100,000 in short order.  It is as simple as that!  So the more friends you invite the quicker our Epidemic of Happiness will spread.

I will do my part by posting daily
Happy Musings (little life thoughts with big impact), blog posts and videos that you can use to keep yourself brightened and tuned into this endeavor.   You may view any of these blog posts and videos now at:

Here is how you can help today.  Email your friends and invite them to visit http://www.sallyhuss.com and click on the Happy News link, add your encouraging comments, including a request for them to send it on to their friends.

As you may know, I have been in the business of happiness for over 20 years throught my art and writings, now I ask you to join me.  Please e-mail me at sally@sallyhuss.com with your thoughts and ideas on how we can build this wonderful community and spread a useful epidemic.  Your help is greatly needed!

Thanks and smiles,

Sally
